Lydia's surgery

Hours after her surgery. So glad to be settled in her room and sleeping!

Uncle Mark feeding her a rootbeer slushy while Aunt Pagee reads her The Mouse and the Motorcycle. They finished the book just hours before coming home. She loved it!

Uncle Seth and Aunt Luz with cousins Jen, Megan, Melanie, Paul and Joseph. They brought her the softest ducky blanket/pillow. She kept it with her the rest of the time!

Some of her favorite things. She amputated the dolls leg with a child life specialist (pictured later). She was Dr. Petrucka for an hour. She's also holding her little mouse named Fluffy she got from one of her teachers, Mrs. Fox. She stayed with her the whole time in the operating room. Next, pictured is the bear and balloon Grammy Jane and Grandpa Tim gave her.

Lydia and Taylor. Josh, Kara and family. This was right in the middle of the whole catheter nightmare. It really helped Lydia get her mind off it all and she was so sad when Taylor had to go.

A sad goodbye! She did not want her family to go home that day! Especially Hazel! The candy bucket in the first pic is what Kara made from them and Stacey and Doug. So cute!

Getting to see her stump unwrapped for the first time. A little scaring looking, but so relieved to have a few minutes break from the bandages. This is Dr. Monument. He is an orthopedic surgeon assisting her main Dr., Dr. Randall. He was in the surgery room as well, and we really liked his visits. His bedside manner was the best, Lydia was very comfortable talking with him!

Lydia loved the time she got with Uncle Mark. She insisted that he sit on the bed by her, and she fell right to sleep.

This is Holly, the child life specialist that amputated the dolls leg with Lydia and helped her through several situations. Lydia would open right up to her, she was so great!

This was our last nurse (from Spain) we had before going home and also an angel after the one we had the day before with the catheter. She was so patient and kind to Lydia and did everything she could to help her pee on her own to avoid another catheter. Also, if you didn't notice, Lydia's on her crutches!!

Just goofing around waiting to go home. Everyone is so happy after a successful trip to the bathroom, and knowing she can go home now!

She had a dressing change this morning. A couple nurses came to our house. She has this nasty blister and 3 more little blisters around it. It's been pretty painful today because of that. With the first dressing change she had little blisters around the stitches, but they look better today. It's all because of how they have to stretch the skin so much, so it's normal and they will heal. Everything looks good though. The smile on her face is because she's kind of freaked out with the blister, but also happy to have another short break from the bandages. 

The little hole there on the side is where the draining tube went in.

Joy's Glee Disney concert, Feb 2014

Joy and her good friend Austin. He is even taller, at least a full head taller than her, but he was bending his knees for the picture. They love dancing ballroom together.

Jenna and Josh came to see her perform along with Paul and Marby on another night, I just didn't think to get their picture. We were sad this was going to be the last performance Jenna would be able to go to for a long time since she's moving to Iowa. :(

Mary & Joy's Valentine Dinner

Every year the Young Women do a fundraising Valentine Dinner where they have to sell the tickets for it, set the table up and be the server for their table. This year was fun because Mary was able to use the China and Silver from Great Grandma Kernan ( David's Grandma). It looked so beautiful on the table and I couldn't stop thinking that Grandma must have been very happy that it was being used.

Joy had a fun idea to use kid paper plates, bowls, cups, etc, and made it a whole children's theme. It was funny because everyone at her table were mostly retired. She purposely made this unpleasant face in the picture to show that she couldn't wait to get this over with! And, she hates getting her picture taken!

Mary's play: Out of the Frying Pan, Feb, 2014

I didn't record any of Mary's play myself, because the school will be getting us copies, but I did take a few pictures. It was such a funny play, and I just loved seeing Mary up there having a blast! The play was set in the 60's, so she's got the fake eyelashes on and some fun clothes.

The guy standing next to Mary is her husband in the play, and now her boyfriend in real life. James has a cute smile, but you can't see it in the pics I took.

This picture was taken by pure chance. James tries several times throughout the play to sneek in a kiss, but is always getting interupted by someone. Another character was suppose to interupt them here when he goes in for the kiss, but is late for his cue, so James goes in anyways, and kisses Mary's lower lip. Mary was leaving her mouth open to avoid this by acting like she was about to say something, so when he kissed her , she closed her mouth and bit his lip! They all had a big laugh about it later!

Lipstick and Flowers! Feb, 2014

It's not hard to see how much Hazel LOVES her lipstick! This time it's actual lipstick, not gloss, or chapstick. She carried it around with her for days!

Lydia the day after her Adenoid surgery. Grammy Jane and Grandpa Tim sent her these flowers with the cute bear. It sure brightened her day!!
